The terror of land mafia is gradually being defused after the legal action against Taji Khokhar and escape of his son Farrukh Khokhar from police custody and later surrender before the police, the Rawalpindi police claimed.
The Rawalpindi police, taking stern action against Khokhars on their involvement in Sabra Bibi killing case, arrested Taji Khokhar, his two sons Farrukh Khokhar and Umar Khokhar and their aides.
The Rawalpindi police, factually, have yet failed to trace actual reason and motive behind the escape of Farrukh Khokhar because the court of law refused to grant further physical remand of Farukh to more investigation in the case, despite the fact that the circumstantial evidences indicated that it was arranged sprung-out drama. However, Farrukh Khokhar recorded ridiculous statement to the police that one of his close friends committed suicide, which shocked him badly that was cause of his escape from the police custody, a police officer dealing with the ‘escape case’ said when asked.
The City Police Officer (Rawalpindi) Akhtar Umar Hayat Lalika, stated that Farrukh Khokhar when asked, told the police investigators that reason of his escape was his friend’s commission of suicide when contacted for his comments
The Islamabad and Rawalpindi police never dared to take any action against Khokhars before Sabra Bibi case during the past regime. This supporting approach encouraged the land mafia, which resulted in multiplication of their strength against the deprived and unvoiced people and to humiliate the law of the land, a police officer, responsible for the enforcement of the law, said when asked, adding, but the heirs of the deceased Sabra Bibi took stand against the mafia people and stood in front of the tyranny of the mafia, constraining the police to take action against the people involved in the killing of Sabra Bibi, consequently, the Islamabad police authorities have also decided to take legal act against the land mafia.
The Islamabad police sources when contacted for their comments, said that the cases registered against Khokhars would re- investigated and the people involved in the cases, would be dealt according to the law.

The police supported the accused party and sent the incomplete investigation report to PDSP on March 30, 2012, only 11 days after the occurrence to favour the accused party.
On 19th February, 2013, Taji Khokhar’s gunmen gunned down a young man, Khalid Farooq, to grab his plot at Dhoke Gangal (East) in connivance with Taji Khokhar, the report said adding that the influenced police, in this case, favoured the accused party, registered FIR (No. 41) under sections 302/109/34 PPC against Taji Khokhar, Imran Shahzad, Sajid Hussain and Mohammad Tanvir and sent incomplete investigation report to PDSP Branch on 8th March, 2013.
