Accentuating the mystic journey of the master painters of Pakistan, an exhibition titled ‘Khabar-e-Tahayyur’ opened at Abida Parveen’s AP Gallerie in Islamabad.
The exhibition includes magnificent works by eminent artists Ustad Allah Bux, Sadequain, Zawar and Gohar Qalam, offering unique opportunity to art connoisseurs to appreciate the treasure trove of Pakistani art.
The exclusive exhibits include paintings and calligraphy of the four world renowned Pakistani master painters. The works of legendary Ustad Allah Bux and Sadequain are well recognised around the world and remain as a part of permanent display in France, UK and America’s art museums, while works of Zawwar Hussain and Ustad Khursheed Alam is on permanent display at Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, and British Museum, London.
Zawwar Hussain from Multan and Ustad Khursheed Alam, nicknamed as Gohar Qalam, both are highly respected and recognized as masters of calligraphy.
While inaugurating the exhibition, Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed praised Abida Perveen’s efforts for patronising art in the country and emphasised on the need for supporting and furthering such efforts. He said that Abida Parveen is an asset for the country and her efforts should be appreciated at private as well as governmental levels.
Expressing her views, ‘sufi’ music legend Abida Parveen said that the ‘Rendition of Rhythm’ was one of her oldest and dearest dreams, and the AP Gallery is fulfillment of that dream of sharing mysticism, which had always encircled her, urging her to spread the Sufi message
across the humanity.
Abida Parveen said that every work of art was a divine blessing, be it in any shape or form. In painting, her fascination was the human hand which was the major contributor and she saw in it the image of the holy name of ‘Allah’. She said that the exhibition ‘Khabar-e-Tahayyur’ represents a spiritual reflection of the creative power of the great painters of Pakistan.
The exhibition displays about 36 masterpieces of the renowned painters, including oil on canvas, oil on wood, and oil on ‘Wasli’. The imageries depict folk life and abstract as well as world class calligraphy in classical script and illustrations.
Abida Parveen said that it’s not only music that she’s passionate about, she loves all sorts of art, which is precisely why she made an effort to bring it all under one roof at the AP Gallery. Abida Parveen Gallery is a valuable addition to the city.
It’s not just another multi-designer store, it has much more to it, with separate sections focusing on clothes, jewellery, art pieces and ‘sufi’ music. The artistic ambiance in spiritualistic shade is evident as one enters the gallery. Even though it has clothes by different designers from Pakistan and India, the gallery stands out mainly because of the fact that its focus is on the captivating spiritual theme of ‘sufi’ soul.
