THE special anti-dengue squads inspected three places on Ferozpur Road on Tuesday and registered cases against Wapda Hospital and two other places.
Secretary Environment Anwar Rasheed along with anti-dengue squads inspected Wapda Hospital and found dengue larvae at several places on the hospital premises. He immediately directed the Wapda Hospital management to remove the water and clear all the infected sites.
Later, an auto-workshop and another business site were sealed and FIRs were registered against their owners after dengue larvae was found there. The secretary also inspected various tyre shops at Nulkha Market and held a meeting with Nulkha tyre association. On the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Environment Secretary Anwar Rasheed had constituted nine special anti-dengue squads which were working on daily basis to eliminate the dengue breeding sources in the city.
The special anti-dengue squads under the supervision of Environment Punjab Secretary Anwar Rasheed inspected dozens of places in the city during the last one month and registered 70 FIRs against the owners of various junkyards, tyre shops, under-construction sites and nurseries after dengue larvae was found in the said places, besides issuing hundreds of warning notices.
Punjab government has assigned the task to Environment Protection Department to identify and eliminate the dengue breeding sites at tyre shops, junkyards, nurseries and under-construction sites of Punjab districts during dengue season.
