Karachi ports handle 163,844 tons cargo

Karachi Port and Port Qasim handled a total of 163,844 tons cargo in the last 24 hours, including 90,968 tons of imported cargo and 72,876 tons of exportable cargo, the two ports reported on Friday.
The Karachi Port handled imports i.e. containerised cargo (25,171 tons), bulk cargo (73 tons), coal (17,400 tons), and oil/liquid cargo (22,038 tons). It handled exports i.e. containerized cargo (31,787 tons), bulk cargo (770 tons), cement (1,133 tons), and loose bulk cement (2,016 tons).
Port Qasim handled imports i.e. chemicals (9,772 tons), vehicles (50 tons), and containerised cargo (16,464 tons). It handled exports i.e. containerised cargo (37,170 tons).
“Berth occupancy was 45 percent at the port on Friday,” Port Qasim Authority reported.Another four ships were moored during the last 24 hours, it said. They were carrying containers, chemicals, and vehicles.
With this, a total of five ships loaded and/or offloaded containers, vehicles, and chemicals.Besides, another two ships carrying chemicals and furnace oil also arrived at the outer anchorage during the last 24 hours, it said.Karachi Port Trust said that it berthed four ships.
