Love marriage resulted in killing of a couple when father of the girl with the help of his accomplices sprayed them with bullets on Sunday morning, in Mohallah Thakedaran near Novelty Cinema, police said.
A taxi driver, Zahid son of Munawar, 25, and 22-year-old Salma daughter of Zainullah, residents of House-604/3, Mohallah Raja Sultan, contracted marriage on January 25 this year after a long love affair and settled in a house in Mohallah Raja Sultan, police said. They added that Zainullah, father of Salma lodged an FIR (No 50 dated 25-01-13 under section 365-B PPC) with the police station claiming that taxi driver Zahid kidnapped his daughter but Salma Bibi denied the claim of her father and recorded statement in the court of law under section 164 CrPC, saying that Zahid didn’t kidnap her and she got married with him with her own will as they were living as husband and wife happily and they didn’t take any step against the law. Consequently, the court of law dismissed the case against Zahid Ali.
Zainullah Khan and his brother Zaitoon Khan decided to take revenge from his daughter and her hssusband and hired some professional killers to kill them, police said. They said that he sent an emergency message to his daughter that her mother was on death bed and wanted to see her and her husband for reconciliation. The police said that Salma, assuming it as a good chance to develop good relations with her angry parents, asked her husband to avail the chance. On Sunday morning Zahid left for in-laws living in Street-27, Mohallah Thakadaran, near Novelty Cinema, along with his wife in his Suzuki FX cab, bearing registration number Karachi-M-6022, police said. They said that as the couple reached near Novelty Cinema, Zainullah Khan, Zaitoon Khan and two unknown hired killers intercepted them at about 7.00 a.m., on the busy road and riddled both with bullets. The victims expired on the spot and the assailants ran away without facing any hurdle.
Rescue-1122 reached the scene before the arrival of the police and shifted the dead bodies to District Headquarters Hospital.
Ratta Amral Police have registered the case (FIR No. 133) under section 302 PPC and sent teams to hunt the prime suspects.
