PML-N demands ouster of ‘PPP’s own’ SPs and DCs

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz has demanded the ouster of 18 officers in Sindh before the general elections as they were relatives of Pakistan People’s Party leaders and could “misuse use their powers” against the candidates of rival parties.
The list of officers, mostly superintendents of police serving in different districts of the province, was presented at the PML-N election committee’s meeting held on Sunday at the residence of the PML-N Sindh chief coordinator, former chief minister Liaquat Jatoi. The party leaders who attending the meeting included Saleem Zia, Shafiq Khoso, Dr Bahadur Dahiri, Nihal Hashmi, Imdad Chandio, Haji Shafi Jamote, Dr Badar Channa, Bhero Lal and Zafar Ali Shah.
It was decided at the meeting that the list would be send to the chief election commissioner asking him to remove these officers before the elections.
According to the list, Sindh IGP Fayyaz Leghari is the brother of Shabbir Leghari, a PPP candidate from Dera Ghazi Khan; Khairpur SP Irfan Bhutto is the son of PPP leader Mukhtar Bhutto; Hyderabad SP Pir Farid Jan Sarhandi is a former leader of the Sindh People’s Students Federation; Thatta SP Waqar Malhan is a friend of PPP leader Awais Muzaffar Tappi; Jamshoro SP Farrukh Bashir is close friend of PPP’s Malik Asad Sikandar; Nausheroferoze SP Tariq Dharijo is the nephew of Sindh minister Saifullah Dharejo; Sanghar SP Muhammad Ali Baloch is a relative of MPA Shajeela Leghari; Kashmore SP Umer Salamat is a relative of federal minister Mir Hazar Khan Bijarani; Mirpurkhas SP Riaz Soomro is the brother of Sindh minister Ayaz Soomro; Tharparkar SP Abid Qainkhani is the brother of PPP leader Parveen Bashir; Malir SP Rao Anwaar is a close friend of PPP’s Awaid Muzaffar; Tando Allahyar SP Nisar Channa is backed by MNA Faryal Talpur; Hyderabad SP Agha Shahnawaz is a close relative of Agha Siraj Durrani; Tharparkar Deputy Commissioner Makhdoom Shafiq is the son of Makhdoom Amin Fahim; Sanghar Deputy Commissioner Shahid Ali Khushk is the son of PPP leader Shahnawaz Khushk; Matiari Deputy Commissioner Shahid Ali Leghari is the brother of MPA Imran Leghari; Jamshoro Deputy Commissioner Agha Sohail Pathan is a relative of MPA Agha Taimoor Pathan; Nawabshah Deputy Commissioner Rasheed Zardari is a relative of President Asif Ali Zardari and Shikarpur Deputy Commissioner Dr Azhar Hussain Shah is a relative of Agha Siraj Durrani and Additional Home Chief Secretary Waseem Ahmed, who is a close friend of President Zardari.
