KHAIRPUR: The Yaum-e-Shahadat of Hazrat Umar Farooq (RA) was observed with traditional zeal and religious fervour here and other parts of Sindh with religious fervor on Sunday.
Scholars, including Ghazi Paryal Shah and Abdul Karim Mari, delivered their sermons to highlight the importance of the event.
They said that after Hazrat Umar Farooq (RA) accepted Islam, Islam got a foothold on the Arabian Peninsula and Muslims dared offer prayers in the open.
They said that during the rule of the second caliph, the Muslims shook the mightiest empires of Rome and Persia to their foundations and hoisted the flag of Islam there.
The scholars said the Muslims of the day should follow the path of Islam and pursue the principles practised by the Khulfa-e-Rashideen.
PPI adds: In connection of the Yaum-e-Shahadat of Hazrat Umar Farooq (RA), a seminar on “Yaum-e-Shahadat Farooq-e-Azam (RA) & New Islamic Year” was
organised at the Binoria University, Karachi, in which thousands of teachers and students took part.
Shaikhul Hadith Mufti Muhammad Naeem, Maulana Abdul Hamid, Maulana Abdul Majyd and other speakers lauded the valuable services of Hazrat Umer Farooq (RA) for Islam, saying that it was the golden period of the history of Islam. They said Islam strengthened after Hazrat Umar (RA) embraced Islam.
Mufti Naeem said the Caliphate period of Hazrat Umar (RA) was a matchless model of an exemplary government, which would continue to provide guidance to the world till the judgment day.
In his rule, every person had got social security protection, he said, adding that only following the rules of good governance as shown by Hazrat Umar Farooq (RA) could save the Ummah from poverty, worries, injustices and aggression in the present era.
Felicitating Muslims on the first day of the Islamic calendar year, he said Muslims had been trapped in the quagmire of un-Islamic and atheist culture and they had forgotten timeless Islamic values and traditions.
He called on the parents to take measures to save their children from un-Islamic traditions.
Meanwhile, the Yaum-e-Shahadat of Hazrat Umar (RA) was observed in Mirpurkhas.
Maulana Abdul Sattar Attari said Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) himself prayed for Hazrat Umar (RA) and resultantly he embraced Islam.
He said by following the role model of Hazrat Umar (RA), the Muslims could regain their lost glories and make this world a peaceful place again for whole mankind.
