Bugti threatens Kalpars with kidnap, killing
April 27, 2006
SUI: The displaced Kalpars, a sub-tribe of the Bugtis tribe in Dera Murad Jamali have said that Nawab Akbar Bugti is threatening them not to return to their hometown of Sui else their family members, including women and children, will be kidnapped and killed.
“We want to return to Sui along with our families as the situation in the town has now become normal, but the Nawab’s people are threatening us with dire consequences for moving back to Sui for resettlement,” Kalpar tribesmen told APP here on Tuesday.
They said that they had left Sui along with their families for Dera Murad Jamali in January last year due to the worsening situation in the town. “Our families are still in Dera Murad Jamali, but we are unable to bring them back due to threats of Nawab Bugti,” they said, adding that Bugti’s men have also planted a number of landmines on roads leading to Sui to prevent their return to the town.
The Kalpars claimed that there were around 60 people mostly belonging to their clan who were in illegal confinement of Nawab Bugti whom he has kept in his fugitive camp, Toba Nokani, near the Dera Bugti town. Besides this camp, there are also several other fugitive camps, including Pasheni, Gori and Chah Badar, which are still operational and being supervised by Nawab Bugti and his grandson, Brahmadagh Bugti, they said, demanding of the government to take action against these camps to release their kidnapped people.
They claimed that weapons and ammunitions being used by Bugti’s armed militia are the same which he had dumped during his period of rule in different parts of Dera Bugti.
“Moreover, Baalach Marri is also supplying arms to Bugti’s men from Kohlu which he had smuggled from across the border,” they alleged.
The Kalpars also claimed that Bugti’s men are still working in the PPL Sui, Levies force and other government departments which are involved in heinous crimes and are also performing the job of informers for Bugti.
Another man of Bugti, Shambo Mashori, was arrested by the government from Loralai on April 13 last along with a huge cache of arms and ammunition which he was trying to smuggle from across the border for Bugti, they said.
Another man of Bugti, Abid Nokani a teacher in Sui, was also held in connection with a cycle blast in Lahore a few months back, they added.
