TDCP to promote tourism

THE Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP) will promote the archaeological sites of the province and also hold a series of unique and mega events in February and March, including the Cholistan Desert Jeep Rally.
The TDCP managing director said this at TDCP head office at Garden Town on Friday. He said that after the 18th Amendment, the provincial archaeological departments of every respective province had been given back the historic site by the federal government. He said that the Punjab Archaeological Department had been returned some 158 such sites for which the said department had asked the Corporation to promote these historical sites.
The MD said that for this purpose, the TDCP had developed CDs of these historical sites which included Kallar Kahar, Kattas Raj and others in collaboration with a private production house. He said these CDs would be disturbed among the tourists free of charge. The chief executive of the private production house, Raqqi Jawad Baloch, told the media that he had taken up this task as a national service and was doing it absolutely free of cost. He said that his team of six members, mostly students from renowned universities of the country, had dedicatedly worked for this project. He said that the filing process was going on and the CDs would be available by next year. About the series of tourism related events, the TDCP MD said that this year first time in the history of Pakistani tourism, the TDCP was introducing the two days long Marching Bands Festival on February 25 and 26 and Lahore Buggi Festival in March which were not only first time in the country but also unique in their nature since they would promote the true culture of the land. The third event, besides the annual fixture of the Cholistan Desert Jeep Rally to be held in March, will be a Vintage Cars Rally in February in the provincial metropolis.
