Govt to provide residential facilities to less affluent

The government is endeavouring to provide land to the middle-class and low-income groups on easy terms with the initiation of various housing schemes.
This was stated by Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan on Saturday. He said that this would help the people construct their own houses. He was speaking at a briefing at the Governor’s House here.
He pointed out that in the past, several housing schemes could not take off because of the policies at that time and the people could not get the facilities they were looking for. Dr Ebad said that it was his desire that the old schemes should be revived and in addition new schemes should also be initiated so that more and more people could get housing facilities.
He pointed out that initially the housing society had requested for 25 acres of land which he enhanced to 50 acres keeping in view the future needs so that applicants in the time ahead could also be accommodated.
The governor said that this housing scheme must be made a success because of lot of area and resources had been allotted. The moving spirit behind the scheme, Qazi Khalid Ali, also spoke on the occasion and thanked the governor for extending assistance in removing the hurdles.
The Director-General, Lyari Development Scheme, Agha Masood, said that the Authority had quickly completed the outer development of the scheme and the remaining would also be completed soon.
Prominent jurist, Dr Farough Nasim, and president of the Society, Advocate Anwar Mansoor Khan, also spoke on the occasion.
