PESHAWAR: Known for his political somersaults in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Minister for Irrigation Pervez Khattak is once again set to change his party, which he had rejoined for obtaining a cabinet berth soon after the 2008 general election.
Elected to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on the Pakistan People’s Party-Sherpao ticket in the last general election, Pervez Khattak not only resigned as the provincial president of the PPP-S but also left in the lurch his party MPAs who had chosen him as their parliamentary leader in the provincial assembly.
He was inducted in the provincial cabinet as the minister for irrigation on the ruling PPP quota after he assured that he had the support of other party MPAs and a group of independents in the assembly. Declaring Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan a final ray of hope on the horizons of national politics in public gatherings, Pervez Khattak is joining his new party today.
Former PPP minister Iqbal Hussain Khattak, who is also expected to join the PTI along with Pervez Khattak, first revealed this information. The joining of a provincial minister will be a big boost for the PTI and a severe a blow to the ruling PPP.
“A request of the PPP Jirga, led by provincial General Secretary Dost Mohammad Khan, was turned down by Pervez Khattak the other day when they visited his house in Nowshera.
