Bomb blast damages 10 shops in Swabi

SWABI: A bomb explosion targeted CD shops in Yar Hussain village of Swabi district on Thursday but there were no reports of any human loss. Villagers said the blast occurred late in the evening when there was nobody at the shops. Police officials said 10 shops were damaged in the blast at Javed Market in Yar Hussain village. They said two of the damaged shops were selling music CDs.

Bodies of two girls found

MARDAN: Bodies of two girls were found in the fields in the limits of Garhi Kapura Police Station late Wednesday night, police sources said. They said that unidentified persons killed the two girls and threw their bodies in the agricultural fields in Gumbat area. The police shifted the bodies to the District Headquarters Hospital in Mardan for autopsy.

One dies in accident

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: One person was killed and another sustained injuries in a road accident here on Thursday. Sources said the driver lost control over a car near Darya Khan Bridge in Dera Ismail Khan and the vehicle fell into a ravine. In the incident, 16-year-old Muzammil, a resident of Koti Nawab, was killed on the spot while Aizaz Ahmad sustained injuries.

Militant arrested

MINGORA: The police on Thursday arrested a militant in Nangolai area in Kabal tehsil, police sources claimed. The sources said that Umar Muhammad alias Kakay Khan was wanted in connection with terrorism-related incidents. The police raided his house and arrested the militant after the local people informed them about his presence there.

Section 144 imposed in Hangu

HANGU: The district administration has imposed Section 144 in Hangu city for the next 45 days banning pillion riding and display of arms to maintain law and order ahead of Muharram. An official notification said that strict security measures have been taken ahead of Muharram

to protect the life and property of residents.

Three booked on murder charge

MANSEHRA: The Shinkiary Police on Thursday booked three persons on the charge of killing a woman. The body of slain woman was found from a nearby forest in Jabar area. Syed Wali, father of the slain woman, told police his daughter had told him two days back that her in-laws wanted to kill her without any reason. He said that on the request of her mother-in-law, he had sent her back to his home where she was allegedly killed. Syed Wali got registered a first information report against his son-in-law Mohammad Asmat, his brother Aurangzeb and his father Mohammad Kajo.



Levies post attacked in Mohmand

GHALLANAI: The militants attacked a Levies checkpost in Safi tehsil of Mohmand Agency, official sources said on Thursday. The sources said the militants attacked the Aman Kor Ghundai checkpoint in Safi tehsil late Wednesday night with heavy weapons. However, no casualty was reported in the attack. The militants fled the area after the Levies soldiers repulsed the attack and fired retaliatory shot at the militants. The security forces launched a search operation in the area after the attack and arrested 27 tribesmen under collective responsibility section of the Frontier Crimes Regulation.

Many from Karak ready to join PTI

KARAK: Prominent political and social figures of the district would soon join the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf, a party leader said on Thursday. Altaf Qadir Khattak, district president of PTI, claimed that a member of Khattak Ittehad Maj (r) Abdul Marjan, son of former DIG and eminent poet Shamsuz Zaman Shams of Latambar and many other prominent figures of the district would announce joining the party in Islamabad toady (Friday). He said that a convoy of vehicles would move to Islamabad tomorrow morning. He added that they would also participate in the ceremony in which former director general of Intelligence Bureau Masood Sharif Khattak would announce to join the PTI. He also informed that very soon Imran Khan would visit Karak district to address a public rally.
