Orakzai lashkar disbanded in protest

HANGU: Protesting lack of support from the security forces and the political administration, the chief of an anti-militants peace body in Orakzai Agency on Sunday announced to disband the organisation.
Talking to reporters by phone, Salamat Khan Orakzai, head of the pro-government Amn Lashkar in Orakzai Agency, said they were closing down their centre in Shahukhel village in Hangu district due to non-cooperation from the security forces and the government.
He said nine of their members were killed and 13 others were injured in the fight against the militants over the last one year.
“The government had pledged to provide us with arms and ammunition but it could not deliver on its promise. We cannot continue battling the militants on our own,” Salamat Khan Orakzai said, adding that the lashkar would be reorganised if the government extended financial assistance to it.
