Famous poet and critic, who is much admired by young writers, Jazib Qureshi, is determined to write for junior city writers as he thinks that younger generations have to age too and if they are not taken into account today, as seniors they would eventually be ignored in future.
Qureshi has produced a number of books on poetry collections, collections of ‘ghazals’, ‘poems’, and critical essays and works on literature and literary personalities.
Interestingly a huge volume, collection of written opinions by contemporary writers on the personality and deeds of Qureshi, titled “Gawahi mere ahd ki” compiled by two writers, Rukhsana Saba and Prof Lubna Manzar, contains the viewpoints of a large number of writers of the country who have acclaimed Qureshi for his poetic vision and his prose writings.
Qureshi’s admirers say that Qureshi has not only rejected the outdated pattern of images in poetry, but given a fresh style to think in poetry. His imagery and expression have discovered a different world in Urdu poetry. However on the other hand, those opposing Qureshi’s view claim that since he had no standard of writing on poetry and literary works by contemporary writers, juniors and ordinary writers give him high respect. In serious circles, he was not graded highly. Jazib Qureshi however rejects the opinions of his opponents, while adding that since he was the first one who used to seriously examine the works of genuine young writers, the so-called seniors did not like this practice and used to reject him. He said he has no standards or parameters to reject original young writers besides the genuine senior writers. He was committed to evaluate of works of all original writers. In all these matters he always applied a relatively impartial approach, believed in a critical appreciation instead of rejecting or acknowledging.
His latest works, titled, “Khwab aur tajribe” published by Sarzameen Publications are nowadays under discussion among

the literary circles and according to a British national Pakistani Poet Rafiuddin Raaz, those who could not deliver much were opposing Qureshi who actually has done a historic deed by writings on hundreds of writers.
The publisher of the latest book, Shahid Hameed, in his preface paid glowing tributes to Qureshi, observing that he had rejected all clichÈ-ridden methods of expressing feelings and depicting life in poetry and instead he has given a totally fresh understanding by the creation of most modern and fresh images, symbols and metaphors in Urdu literature.
The latest collection of articles titled ‘Khwab aur tajribe’ and another book titled ‘Izhariye’ by Qureshi underline the poetry, short stories, fiction, humorous literature, criticism and other works created in different forms by different writers.
He has also written on Mirza Ghalib, Allama Iqbal, Majnoon Gorakhpoor, Manzoor Hussian Shor, Saba Akbar Abadi, Tabish Dehlavi and other literary giants
