PM House rubbishes car don’s charge against Gilani

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani has also been implicated by the jailed car don Mohammad Hassan, who says in his recorded 33-page statement that Imran Goga, a major car thief operating in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, has the backing of the sitting prime minister.
Goga was a “mushaqqati” (servant provided in jail to VIP detainees) of Yusuf Raza Gilani in Adiala jail and he has used this connection to save himself,” the don alleges in his statement recorded for the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
However, the spokesman of the Prime Minister’s House when contacted by this correspondent strongly denied the allegation, describing it as rubbish.
“The Prime Minister’s House categorically denies this allegation. The prime minister doesn’t have any contact with any criminal, neither he has any kind of relations with any such person,” the spokesman for the Prime Minister’s House told this correspondent.
However, the spokesman for the Prime Minister’s House did not clarify or comment on whether Imran Goga did work as a “mushaqqati” with Mr Gilani, when he was serving his term in Adiala jail.
The car don has alleged that this person, Imran Goga, was serving a term in Adiala jail on charges of kidnapping for ransom at the time Gilani was imprisoned there and was assigned the job to serve Mr Gilani. “He developed good rapport with his ‘Master’ in Adiala jail and also taught Quran to Mr Gilani. He stayed with him in ‘A-Class’ of the jail for two-and-a-half-year and also cooked food for him.”
Hassan alleged in his statement that there used to be a Superintendent of Jail by the name of Tariq Babar. When he took over the office in Adiala jail, he raided the ‘A-Class’ and confiscated the lap-top computer and cell phone of Mr Gilani and also imposed a ban on his meetings with his visitors.
On this, Hassan stated in his statement, Mr Gilani’s lawyer moved an application against the Superintendent Jail Tariq Babar but the Special Anti-Terrorism Court dismissed the application, observing that it was an internal matter of jail and that it should be sorted out at that level.
“Bribe is the name of the game in Adiala jail. I remained in Adiala jail for 10 months and spent Rs9 million in bribes at different levels to buy facilities and comforts. I lived a lavish life there spending nine million rupees for 10 months.”
