Online admission system introduced in 24 Punjab colleges

LAHORE: For the first time in the history of the province, the Higher Education Department, Punjab, has introduced online admission in select public colleges across the province.
In the first phase, the department has selected 24 colleges of nine districts where admission to intermediate classes for the new academic session will be made online.
The colleges include Lahore’s Government College for Women, Gulberg, Government College of Science, Wahdat Road, Government Dyal Singh College, Government Islamia College, Civil Lines, Government Jinnah Degree College for Women, Mozang, Government Kulliyat-ul-Banat College for Women, Government MAO College and Government Postgraduate College for Women, Samanabad.
Gujranwala’s Government Degree College, Peoples Colony, and Government Postgraduate College for Women, Satellite Town, Rawalpindi’s Government Postgraduate College, Asghar Mall and Government Postgraduate College for Women, Satellite Town, Faisalabad’s Government Islamia College for Women, Eidgah Road, and Government Postgraduate College of Science, Sahiwal’s Government College for Women and Government Postgraduate College, Multan’s Government College of Science, and Government Degree College for Women, Dera Ghazi Khan’s Government College for Women, and Government Postgraduate College, Bahawalpur’s Government Degree College for Women, Satellite Town, and Government SE College, and Sargodha’s Government Ambala Muslim College, and Government College for Women, Farooq Colony.
An official of the department said the admission schedule would soon be advertised, adding a comprehensive and interactive website had been developed for the purpose. He said students seeking admission to the colleges would apply online through the website (http://ocas.punjab.gov.pk/) and pay a nominal fee of Rs 25 after submitting their admission forms.
The official said the department was going viral in a phased manner, adding that transfer and posting orders for teachers were also being issued online. He said the initiative was aimed at enhancing the efficiency and ensure maximum transparency.
