Malir River Causeway made two-track

The Malir River Causeway (Qayyumabad to Korangi Road) has been made two-track by installing New Jersey Barriers, whereas work on Azimpura Road, which is being constructed at a cost of Rs56 million, will be completed within a week.
The Administrator and Commissioner, Karachi, Muhammad Hussain Syed, along with Municipal Commissioner, Altaf G Memon, and other officials visited both the projects on Wednesday. The commissioner Karachi has issued directives to complete the remaining work as soon as possible.
During his visit to the causeway, the commissioner was informed that many accidents occurred on the thoroughfare due to overtaking. Therefore, in order to clamp on such issues, it had been made two-track for the time being.
However, for its reconstruction and its widening, another project is under consideration.
The commissioner Karachi issued directives that both parts of the Causeway should be widened five to six feet so that traffic problems could not emerge in case of developing problem in any vehicle. He said that the sides of both the tracks should be widened up to five feet each.
He said that unless the under-consideration project regarding Malir Causeway was launched it was necessary to divide it in two tracks to control traffic incidents.
While visiting Azimpura Road, Muhammad Hussain Syed was informed that a part of the road had been opened to traffic after completion of work, whereas construction work on the second part of the road was progressing speedily, which would also be opened for traffic within a week. The length of Azimpura Road is 1.5 kilometres.
He was informed that in accordance with the wishes of the inhabitants of the area the service road was also being constructed and underground utilities, especially electricity cables, had been shifted under the pavement.
The Commissioner, Karachi, issued orders on this occasion that as Azeempura Road was the most important road of Shah Faisal Colony, special attention be paid so that the inhabitants did not suffer due to ongoing project.
