S M Krishna felicitates Hina Rabbani Khar
ISLAMABAD: Indian Minister of External Affairs S M Krishna has written to Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar on her assumption of office. Krishna stated that he was looking forward to working closely with the minister and her visit to New Delhi for the Pakistan-India ministerial meeting. UK Foreign Secretary William Hague called the foreign minister, on her assumption of office. He extended an invitation to the foreign minister for a visit to the United Kingdom for the strategic dialogue process. Both the ministers agreed to work closely to further strengthen close and cooperative relations between the two countries.

Chakwal lawyers observe strike to
condemn killing of colleague
CHAKWAL: The lawyers of District Chakwal observed a complete strike on Wednesday to condemn the killing of a lawyer at Lahore and they boycotted the courts, therefore, all the judicial work remained suspended at Chakwal, Talagang and Choa Saiden Shah and people faced great hardships. The strike was observed on the direction of Punjab Bar Council. The lawyers were protesting the killing of a lawyer, his brother and father at Lahore and attempt of murder on two lawyers at Mandi Bahawal Din.

Suspect held, explosives recovered in Quetta
QUETTA: Police arrested a suspect and recovered explosive materials from his custody on Wednesday. Acting on a tip off, a police party conducted a raid and apprehended Asad Khan and recovered explosive devices from his possession, police said. The suspect is being interrogated.

Girl’s body found in Jaffarabad
DERA MURAD JAMALI: Police recovered a body of 12-year-old girl on Wednesday in Khanpur area of Jaffarabad district. According to the police, they were informed of the body by a passerby. The police reached the spot and recovered the dead body of minor girl, which was shifted to hospital. She was killed three days ago.

CJ administers oath to acting AGP

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Wednesday administered oath of office to Aneece Marghoob, Additional Auditor General as acting Auditor General of Pakistan. Judges of the Supreme Court, secretary Law and Justice Commission, officers of Auditor General of Pakistan and officers and staff of the Supreme Court also attended the ceremony, held here in the Supreme Court building.

HMC employees protest

HYDERABAD: Employees of the Hyderabad Municipal Corporation staged a protest on Wednesday against the non-payment of their monthly salaries outside the local press club. Akram Rajput, general secretary of the CBA Staff Union, leading the protest , said around 2,500 regular employees and 2,200 pensioners did not get their June salaries, while 13-1,400 contractual employees had not been receiving their salaries for the last nine months. Criticising the commissionerate system, he said because of this system, “everything is at sixes and sevens.”

Qalandar’s Urs arrangements finalised

HYDERABAD: Commissioner Hyderabad Ahmed Bux Narejo, has said arrangements for the 759th annual Urs celebrations of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar (RA), being held from July 21-23, at Sehwan Sharif have been finalised in all respects. Narejo has directed the district administration and officers of Sindh police Jamshoro to be vigilant, implement a foolproof security plan in letter and spirit and ensure that proceedings of annual Urs should be conducted in safe, secure and peaceful atmosphere, a handout released by the Information Department said on Wednesday.

Two killed in Khairpur

SUKKUR: Some accused of the Rajper clan gunned down two people Latif Dino and Rafique Lund in village Walidad Lund in the police jurisdiction of Saitharija in Khairpur. Police shifted dead bodies to a local hospital for autopsy.
