PESHAWAR: Former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief secretary Sahibzada Riaz Noor took oath as the chairman of the Public Service Commission (PSC) at the GovernorÕs House on Saturday.
Governor Masood Kausar administered the oath. Provincial ministers Mian Iftikhar Hussain, Hidayatullah Khan, Nimroz Khan and Muhammad Ayub Asharai, Chief Secretary Ghulam Dastagir Akhtar, administrative secretaries and high-ranking officials of the provincial government were also present on the occasion.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had recently reduced the tenure of the PSC members from five to three years. The ex-chairman and nine members of the PSC have challenged the governmentÕs decision to cut the tenure of the members through a constitutional petition in the Peshawar High Court.
The provincial government quickly replaced the sacked chairman Gulzar Khan and six members by appointing the new chairman Sahibzada Riaz Noor and other members, mostly retired bureaucrats.
