German police find two bodies in cable drum
BERLIN: Two men found dead in a cable drum imported by truck from Greece by way of Italy were likely to have been illegal immigrants who died of heat exhaustion, German authorities said on Tuesday. The bodies were discovered on Sunday in Fulda, central Germany, after a truck driver checking on the rigging of his load of cable drums became suspicious of the smell coming from one of them, police said.

Iran mocks Israeli leaders
TEHRAN: Iran on Tuesday mocked Israeli officials for flirting with “stupid ideas” after former Israeli spy chief Meir Dagan admitted that an Israeli attack on Tehran’s nuclear sites was foolish. “It is interesting that Zionist regime officials admit they have stupid ideas, as they have had so many such ideas in the past,” foreign ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said at his weekly press conference. His remarks came after former Mossad head Dagan said on May 6 that the possibility of a future Israeli aerial attack on Iran “would be stupid.”

Mexico detains 183 migrants
PUEBLA, Mexico: Mexican authorities have detained 183 illegal migrants from Central America, Egypt, China and India in the central state of Puebla, according to police.

DPRK, China to develop island
SEOUL: North Korea and China will start work on developing a river island on their border this month, a report said on Tuesday, amid an international drive to coax Pyongyang back to nuclear disarmament talks. The two countries plan to hold a groundbreaking ceremony on May 28 for development of the island on the Yalu River, the South’s Yonhap news agency said.

Kyrgyzstan seeks Nato help

The mainly Muslim Central Asian nation which neighbours regional giant China, hosts both US and Russian military airbases and lies on a major drug trafficking route out of Afghanistan.

Bahrain expels Reuters reporter
LONDON: Bahrain said on Tuesday that it was expelling the Reuters correspondent in the Gulf kingdom. Frederik Richter, who has been based in the capital Manama since 2008, was told to leave within a week after officials complained Reuters had lacked balance in its reporting during the recent crackdown on pro-democracy protesters.

US worried
MOGADISHU: The United States voiced concerns on Tuesday about Somalia’s decision to temporarily block dozens of lawmakers from travelling abroad as a power struggle among its bickering leaders intensified. Most of the 48 legislators had been due to travel on Monday to Kenya to take part in talks about possible elections in the Horn of Africa country, torn by a long-running insurgency, once the mandates of its interim institutions end in August.

Indian dies jumping off Burj Khalifa
DUBAI: A 30-year-old Indian died falling off Burj Khalifa on TUternoon in an apparent suicide, Dubai Police have confirmed. According to the eyewitnesses, the man jumped from the 147th floor of the building and fell on the 102nd floor, dying after a few minutes. The police and paramedics arrived with in few minutes of the incident but could not resuscitate him. The person is not yet identified, however, the badly mangled remains of the body has been sent to the forensic department for investigation.
