The Floral Art Society, (FAS) Islamabad/Rawalpindi chapter organised a meeting to hold a photo shoot for their annual magazine featuring arrangements made by members.
A sizable number of members made floral arrangements at the meeting, which were photographed professionally for the upcoming magazine. These were interesting; beautiful or themed – depending on the floral artist and what had been decided at an earlier meeting. Later there was an interactive session with members of the organisation to which funds will be donated after the annual fund raising event in April.
The programme began with recitation from the Holy Quran by Hina Kamran, after which president Ghazala Abdullah welcomed the members and informed them about the fund raiser and its details. This will be a three-day event which will be attended by the FAS clubs of Karachi, Lahore and Peshawar. She emphasised the need for members to make full efforts to raise maximum funds for this charitable cause by getting support from sponsors and persons willing to donate to alleviate the suffering of the less fortunate.
The funds will be donated to Pakistan Kidney Patients Association,(PKPA) This is a charitable organization located in Rawalpindi, providing kidney care to the patients including free of cost dialysis to patients of the low income group. To this end, a presentation was given by the CEO of the organization, Colonel (r) Yunus Bhatti and Brigadier (r) Shehzad Saeed, the nephrologist associated with the organization, highlighting the aims and objectives of their institute. Members were informed about the expansion plans of PKPA for which land has been acquired in the area of Rawat and now funds are required to build a bigger hospital to facilitate patients.
Carrying on the tradition, gifts were given to the birthday girls, pleasantries were exchanged and refreshments served, which gave an opportunity for members to learn more about the PKPA and the good work it is doing. You too can learn more by visiting www.pkpa.org.pk, www.facebook.com/pkpaorg.
