Malik seeks exemption from personal appearance in court

RAWALPINDI: Federal Minister for Interior Rehman Malik, through an application, told the Accountability Court No IV, Rawalpindi, that the law and order situation in Karachi is not good, so he is busy in holding meetings with certain people to discuss the situation and he is unable to attend the court.
Through the application, he sought an exemption from personal appearance before the court. However, no decision was made on the application. It may be mentioned here that the court, on the last hearing, had given him the last and final opportunity to appear before the court in person.
NAB prosecutor, however, argued before the court regarding NAB’s application under Section 31B, in which he requested the permission to withdraw the references against Malik. NAB prosecutor Malik Jamil Awan told the court that the accused had never taken the cars in bribe. A relative of Malik had paid for the one car to Toyota Motors while the other car was returned. The prosecutor further argued that there was no proof against Rehman Malik that he had received these cars.
