PU admin praised for restoring peace

LAHORE: Members of the Punjab University’s Academic Staff Association (PU-ASA), Senate and Syndicate have expressed their gratitude to the provincial government and PU administration for taking action against violent elements and help establish peace on the campus.

In a press statement, ASA office-bearers Dr Azhar Naeem, Dr Ayub, Naeem Ullah, Syndicate Members Prof Dr Sajid Rashid, Dr Mahboob Hussain and others hailed Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Minister for Higher Education Syed Raza Ali Gillani, CCPO Amin Wains, DIG Haider Ashraf and SP Iqbal Town Dr Umer Farooq for extending full support to PU administration to ensure peace on the campus.

They said only a very few number of students wanted to disrupt academic and research environment of the varsity. They appreciated PU VC Prof Dr Muhammad Zakria Zakar for maintaining justice and neutrality in the matter. “'We stand behind PU administration on taking stern disciplinary action against the violent elements without any discrimination. The teachers’ fraternity will not tolerate such elements who will try to harm peace and tranquility and such efforts must be dealt with an iron hand”, they said. No pressure should be tolerated in this regard, they added.
