BARA: The Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Bara chapter, on Monday announced that Shah Faisal Afridi would be the party candidate for the NA-46 constituency in the upcoming general election.
Speaking at a press conference at the Bara Press Club, Bara Sub-division JI head, Khan Wali Afridi, said the party parliamentary board through secret ballot had chosen Shah Faisal Afridi as candidate for the NA-46 in the next election.
JI deputy general secretary Fata, Dr Lal Akbar Afridi, Bara naib ameer Sultan Akbar Afridi and other office-bearers were also present on the occasion.Khan Wali Afridi said the JI would win the NA-46 seat as the party had elected a strong candidate.
He asked the government to provide facilities to the internally displaced persons (IDPs) and reconstruct the destroyed infrastructure in the militancy-hit areas of Khyber Agency so the tribespeople could restart a normal life.
“The JI has set up a camp in Khyber Killay on the Ring Road for 200 IDPs families of Bara and Tirah and providing the displaced people with health and education facilities,” he said while recounting the party services for the uprooted tribespeople.Khan Wali Afridi said it was the priority of the JI to get rid of the draconian Frontier Crimes Regulation and bring the tribal region into the national mainstream.
