CM opens PTCL data centre at Wafaqi Colony

CHIEF Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif inaugurated the data centre of the Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited at Wafaqi colony here on Friday.
He congratulated the PTCL administration on setting up the biggest data centre of the country and said that the visible improvement in the companyís performance was the result of the change of management. He said that it was his desire to see the PTCL making further progress, providing better services to the masses. He said the PTCL should also play its role in the social sector of the country.
Mr Shahbaz said the Punjab government was implementing a comprehensive policy for the promotion of information technology in the province and IT labs had been set up in more than 4,000 schools and students from Attock to Rahimyar Khan were acquiring the latest knowledge and information about the new inventions. He said that modern IT labs were also being established in Daanish Schools where smart boards were also being provided. He said the PTCL should also cooperate with the Punjab government in the monitoring of the labs.
PTCL President Waleed Arshad said that every citizen had the right of access to information and after Karachi the biggest data centre of the country had been established in Lahore. He said the PTCL was taking measures for providing better facilities to the masses.
Senior Executive Vice-President Naveed Saeed, CTO Nasrullah and Executive Vice-President Corporate Services Zaman Gulzar were also present.
