PQ handles 58,999 tons of cargo

KARACHI: Port Qasim (PQ) handled a cargo volume of 58,999 tons, comprising 41,744 tons of imports and 17,255 tons of exports during the last 24 hours, a statement said on Thursday.
Berth occupancy was measured at 90 percent at the port, where a total of 10 ships are engaged in loading and offloading containers of wheat, rice, sugar, project cargo, furnace oil and palm oil, respectively.
The port witnessed brisk shipping activity, where five ships carrying containers of project cargo, wheat and furnace oil were allotted berths at the Qasim International Container Terminal, Multipurpose Terminal and FOTCO Terminal, respectively.
Meanwhile, another three ships carrying containers also arrived at the outer anchorage of the port.
