Lawyers set deadline for transfer of DOR

January 01, 2011
NOWSHERA: Setting a three-day deadline, the District Bar Association here Friday asked the government to transfer the district officer revenue (DOR) or else they would boycott the Revenue Courts.
The demand was made at an emergency meeting of the members of the bar association presided over by its President Iftikhar Ali Khan. Speaking on the occasion, members of the bar including Riaz Ali Khan, Ejaz Khan and Riaz Ahmed Khan said the behaviour of the DOR/Collector Fazle Subhan with the bar members had been harsh and non-cooperative.
Ejaz Khan said the conduct of the DOR was extremely intolerable when their colleague, Riaz Ali Khan, contacted the DOR in connection with the application of Jaffar Khan whose daughter died in the devastating flood.
He said the application was actually handed over to him by the Minister for Information and Culture Mian Iftikhar Hussain during his visit to the bar for taking action on it but the DOR refused to oblige. He alleged that the DOR was an incompetent and arrogant public servant who could not run the office.
Iftikhar Ali said: “The DOR always claims that no one could transfer him because he paid Rs0.1 million to the high officials of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to get the job.” Passing a unanimous resolution in the meeting, the members asked the government to transfer the DOR and replace him with an honest and competent officer.
