KALAYA: About 434 displaced families belonging to the Mishtikhel clan reached their areas of origin in central tehsil of Orakzai Agency on Wednesday as the authorities said the process of repatriation of the IDPs would continue till January 8, 2011.
The officials of the political administration assisting the return of the IDPs said that 200 families reached their native villages a day earlier and each family was being provided cooked meal before departure from Hangu district.
They added that the repatriated families would be provided food for the next six months from the food hubs established for the violence-affected tribes people. Sources said the IDPs were received by the political administration and military officials at Chimjana in lower tehsil of Orakzai Agency and were provided blankets, mats and kitchenware.
A large number of families migrated to safer places when a military action was launched in Orakzai Agency against the outlawed Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan-led militants in March 2010.
Most of the uprooted families took shelter in Hangu, Kohat and Peshawar districts. As peace was restored in most parts of the restive tribal area, the IDPs were being sent back to their areas by the government with the assistance of international relief organisations.
