Annual Interfaith Christmas dinner

Interfaith League Against Poverty (I-LAP) celebrated its Annual Interfaith Christmas Dinner on the Sunday night with the spirit of Interfaith Harmony, peace, love and tolerance.
Federal Minister for Minorities Affairs, Shahbaz Bhatti was the chief guest. Addressing the event federal minister said “It is a basic right of a human being to express him or her point of view and it should be respected in all aspects. Peace has extreme importance for the national development and to make goodwill in the world. Best wishes to those who have taken steps to bring in unity, peace, harmony and working for the solidarity of Pakistan”. He acknowledged the utmost efforts of I-LAP team during flood disaster and financial and moral support to flood affectees. He congratulated Chairman I-LAP for launching PEACUNK magazine and said that it is another success of l-LAP along with the achievements of welfare.
I-LAP Chairman Sajid Ishaq said “I-LAP is working for interfaith harmony and peace in Pakistan and beyond. However, interfaith dashes and inter civilization crushes have been felt as the most sensitive and appalling issue, not only in Pakistan but worldwide. It is social and moral duty of everyone to propagate the harmony and tolerance in the society”. He said there is a need that we should disseminate the message of interfaith harmony and peace at grass-roots level and make Pakistan a true democratic state where people would select their representatives not on the basis of religion but on the basis of character and capabilities than and only than we could save Pakistan, he added.
Provincial Minister for Social Welfare Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) Sitara Imran, Provincial Minister KP for Auqaf, Nimroz Khan, Saddique-ul-Farooq PML-N, Managing Director Pakistan Minerals Development Corporation Brigadier Khalid Khokhar, Inspector General Police Islamabad Kalim Amam, President Pakistan People’s Party Greater London Ch. Riaz, SSP, SPs, Hindu representative Shayam Babu, Bahai representative Mono Kamine, Sikh representative Garveed Singh, Buddhist representative Hania, Muslim representative Prof Taj ud din Al Azhari and senior members of media and other dignitaries attended the dinner.
