‘Highway Dept to construct Sheikhupura-Gujranwala Road’

GUJRANWALA: Commissioner Saeed Wahla has said that the Punjab Highway Department will construct Sheikhupura-Gujranwala Road.
He was addressing a meeting here on Sunday. The commissioner said that necessary orders had been issued to the concerned departments in this regard. He warned that corrupt practices would not be tolerated and stern action would be taken against corrupt and negligent officers. He claimed that he was aware of problems facing by the people living on both sides of Sheikhupura Road. He assured that he would try his level best to resolve all problems of the people. He said that Sheikhupura Road was an important centre of business and the concerned department had been made responsible to ensure its timely completion.

PPP caravan to leave for Garhi Khuda Bakhsh on 27th

GUJRANWALA: A caravan of the PPP activists will leave for Garhi Khuda Bakhsh to participate in the death anniversary of former party’s chairperson Shaheed Benazir Bhutto on December 27.
Meanwhile, a condolence meeting was organised by the PPP Gujranwala city and district chapters to pay tribute to Lala Idrees who had died during his visit to the shrine of Hazrat Baba Farid Masood Ganj Shakar (RA) at Pakpattan. They offered fateha and prayed for the departed soul.
CASH, VALUABLES LOOTED: Dacoits looted cash, gold ornaments and other valuables in five incidents at Samanabad on Saturday night.
The dacoits entered the houses of Munir, Bashir and Sabir and looted cash, gold ornaments and other valuables. Later, hundreds of residents of the area protested against Dhulley police on Bypass Road and blocked traffic against the dacoity incidents. However, on the assurance of SP Hilal Khan that the police would arrest the dacoits, the protesters dispersed.
ENGLISH TEACHERS: English teachers will be considered regular from the day

of their appointment in 1995.
It was decided during a meeting chaired by the EDO Finance here on Sunday. It was informed that the teachers would get benefits package in three stages according to seniority. A five-member committee was constituted for implementation on the decision and other matters relating to service promotion.
