KARACHI: Renouncing the reports that Muttahida Qaumi Movement – Pakistan and the PML-N enjoy a virtual alliance, the minister for Climate Change Mushahidullah Khan said they consider MQM as criminals of Karachi.

Talking to the media at the airport, PML-N leader Mushahidullah Khan said the MQM-P and PSP are two sides of the same coin and when they were together in the unified MQM they destroyed Karachi's peace. “They would shut down the economic activities in the city on every fourth day due to strikes and hold the people of Karachi hostage."

Restoring peace in Karachi is Nawaz Sharif’s biggest achievement and now the people can give away their fitra, zakat and sacrificial animal hides as per their free will. Before that killings were carried out on the directives of Indian spy agency, RAW, he added. He said the PML-N carried out “historical” developments in the city since coming into power in 2013. “If the people of Karachi give one more chance to Nawaz Sharif the city will leave Lahore far behind in infrastructural development.”

He said the PML-N will play a pivotal role in Sindh in the upcoming general election and possibly enter into an alliance with the Grand Democratic Alliance, involving its ally Pakistan Muslim League – Functional. “Nawaz Sharif called on PML-F leader and Minister for Overseas Pakistani and Human Resource Development Pir Sadruddin Shah Rashidi on Tuesday. We are also holding talks with other parties as well,” he said.

Mushahidullah criticized former president and Pakistan Peoples Party co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari and alleged he is backing the former SSP Malir Rao Anwar, accused of falsely labeling a youth a terrorist and killing him in a staged encounter. Anwar is on the run after the Supreme Court ordered his arrest. While referring to Zardari, he said the PPP co chairman would not succeed in buying off votes in the Senate election. “If Asif Zardari manages to gain seats from the Punjab then we will make a clean sweep in Sindh.”

Nawaz visits Karachi today

The minister announced that PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif will arrive in Karachi on a two-day visit on Thursday. Nawaz is scheduled to preside over a meeting of the party leaders to discuss the political strategy regarding the upcoming general elections. A delegation of PML-F is likely to meet him afterwards. At night, he will meet with the businessmen. On Friday, he will attend a seminar about democracy and will hold meeting with the lawyers and will visit the Green Line project site to inspect its progress.
