Sehwag reaffirms support for the DRS
DELHI: India opener Virender Sehwag has reaffirmed his support for the Umpire Decision Review System (DRS), asking for its implementation in all of India’s engagements leading upto, and including the World Cup. “I am a big fan of the DRS,” Sehwag said. “I want it to be there for the India-New Zealand series, India-South Africa series and in the World Cup. But this is my personal opinion. I was given out two times when I was not out and in such a situation could have gone in for a referral that would have helped me continue to bat.”
Pressure builds on Hussey, North
ADELAIDE, Australia: Australian coach Tim Nielsen has ramped up the pressure on struggling Australian batsmen Mike Hussey and Marcus North after their latest batting failures ahead of next month’s Ashes series with England. Hussey made a first-ball duck and North was out for just 10 playing for Western Australia in their domestic Sheffield Shield match against South Australia in Adelaide on Sunday. Kukushkin wins Saint Petersburg title
SAINT PETERSBURG, Russia: Unheralded Mikhail Kukushkin of Kazakhstan beat Russian top seed Mikhail Youzhny in straight sets to win the Saint Petersburg Open ATP tournament here on Sunday. The 22-year-old Kukushkin claimed the final 6-3, 7-6 (7/2) in two hours 25 minutes to level his head-to-head record with Youzhny at 1-1.

Kenya’s Bett wins Athens classic marathon
ATHENS: Kenya’s Raymond Bett won the 28th Athens classic marathon Sunday held this year in celebration of the 2,500-year anniversary of the famous battle that gave the event its name. Bett, 36, finished the 42-kilometre race in two hours, 12 minutes and 40 seconds. He was followed by last year’s winner, countrymen Jonathan Kipkorir, who clocked 2:14.05 and with third place going to another Kenyan, Edwin Kimutai, in 2:15.21. The women’s race was won by Lithuania’s Rasa Drazdaukaite in a time of 2:31.06. More than 12,000 runners from 88 countries took part in the race.
