• Power shortage harming industry, says Shahbaz

      LAHORE

      CHIEF Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif has said power shortage is seriously affecting the industrial sector which is also leaving a negative impact on the national economy.

      He was talking to Cannon Generation Limited Chief Executive Faheem Haider and Director Azeem

      Haider who met him here Friday to discuss the project of setting up a 135MW coal-fired power plant in the province.

      The chief minister said the Punjab government was working on various projects of generation of energy from alternative sources including coal. He said the Punjab government would extend all-out cooperation to the Cannon Generation Limited for setting up the plant of generation of energy from coal and an agreement would soon be reached in this regard.

      Faheem Haider said his company wanted to take part in the efforts being made by the chief minister for overcoming the energy crisis.

      He said his company wanted to set up a 135MW plant in Punjab with the collaboration of the government.

      The chairman Planning and Development, secretaries Minerals and Irrigation and vice-chairman Punjab Investment Board were also present.
