Release of kidnapped tribesmen sought

PARACHINAR: Expressing concern over the release of 38 suspected attackers on a convoy of the security forces from Bannu jail, tribal elders on Thursday asked the government to take steps for recovery of the kidnapped Turi tribesmen.
Addressing a news conference here, tribal elders Musarrat Bangash and Muhammad Taqi Turi said the security forces arrested 38 suspects after the attack on passengers and security forces convoy on July 17 in Charkhel area of Kurram Agency.
They said that 18 persons, including women and students, were killed and several others injured while the Turi tribesmen were kidnapped by militants. The tribal elders said the security forces launched search operation in the area and arrested 38 suspected persons belonging to Charkhel tribe and were shifted to the jail in Bannu. They said the suspected persons were released on Tuesday while no steps were being taken for the recovery of the Turi tribesmen.
