PPP, people, democracy integral

SIALKOT: The Pakistan People’s Party, the people and democracy are integral parts of each other and the government is committed to maintain democracy at all costs, because restoration of democracy was the result of sacrifices of the leadership of the party. Federal Law Minister Dr Babar Awan said this on Saturday while addressing a public meeting at Dhallewali, after inauguration of a Sui Gas project. The minister said the PPP-led government believes in democratic norms, as a result of which there is complete freedom of expression in the country.
“All conspiracies against the democratically-elected government would be failed with active support of the people,” Babar Awan said. The minister called upon the masses to strengthen President Asif Ali Zardari’s hands not only for fizzling out the conspiracies but for permanent solution of the long-standing issues and banishing the backwardness from the downtrodden areas.
Babar Awan vowed that Pakistan People’s Party will be strengthened evenly in all parts of the country and the Punjab would be made an invincible fort of the PPP and democratic change in the Punjab would be brought. The minister said the present government gave autonomy to the provinces, while Gilgit-Baltistan was given the status of province. He said the game of political actors and directors against the democratically elected government would badly flop because the people are with the PPP and the PPP is with the people.
Federal Population Welfare Minister, Dr Firdaus Ashiq Awan said the poor segment of the country was the vote bank of Pakistan People’s Party and all conspiracies would be thwarted with the support of the masses. She pledged to eliminate the ‘Thana Culture’ because poor workers of the PPP were being harassed just for political victimisation in the rural parts of Sialkot. Earlier, Awan and Dr Firdaus inaugurated the Sui Gas project.
