THE PPP Lahore chapter has been directed to accelerate efforts for the registration of poor population in the poverty survey to be conducted in connection with the Benazir Income Support Programme.
Addressing a meeting of PPP Lahore body on Saturday, Lahore PPP President Samina Khalid Ghurki instructed the party workers to rejuvenate the party and avoid unnecessary warfare with the rival parties, particularly the PML-N. The meeting was attended by Lahore Women Wing President and MPA Faiza Malik, General Secretary Akber Khan, Secretary Information Tahir Khaleeq, Afnan Butt, Zahid Zulfiqar, Mian Manzoor and others.
The meeting was told that Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Chairperson Farzana Raja would inaugurate the poverty survey campaign in Lahore in the ongoing week and all efforts must be made to facilitate the poor population of the district under the programme. The PPP Lahore president stressing the need for poverty alleviation also urged the workers to speed up their contacts with the masses for the solution to their grievances.
It was also decided to activate the angry workers of the party in the City organization to rejuvenate the party while the process of various party tiers in the district would be completed soon. The meeting expressed complete support for President and PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari and said the party was united under his leadership.
