ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday slapped complete ban on mining without licence in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). The stone crushing suo moto case came up for hearing before the court. KP chief secretary and mining secretary appeared before the court. The court after hearing the respondents imposed complete ban on unlicenced mining in KP besides ordering Mining Department to decide all the licence related applications within 15 days. Stay order from any court will not create any hindrance for KP Mining Department. The Court further said that KP chief secretary would himself monitor mining process and the responsibility for compliance of court orders would rest with KP chief secretary. The court adjourned the hearing of KP Mining suo moto case till January 24.
