KARACHI: Holders Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) notched up their fourth victory of the season with a 3-0 bashing of Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) while Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) inflicted a 3-1 upset on Pak Elektron Limited (PEL) in the Pakistan Premier Football League on Friday.
At the Municipal Stadium in Rawalpindi, Mohammad Shahid provided KRL a well-deserved lead in the 22nd minute. In the second-half, KRL striker Mohammad Qasim scored a brace, his goals coming in the 51st and 57th minute before KESC captain Muhammad Essa was sent-off after recieving a red card in the 72nd minute.
KRL now have 16 points from ten matches while KESC have 12.
At the Model Town Football Academy Ground in Lahore, PEL took the lead in the 32nd minute through a Mohammad Bashir penalty. But SSGC came storming back as goals by Asim Faiz (42nd minute), Zia-ur-Rehman (80th) and Sabir Khan (85th) gave them the win in an intense match that saw both teams down to 10-men.
Elsewhere, PIA were held to a 1-1 draw by Navy in Rawalpindi.
Nasrullah Khan gave PIA the lead in the 19th minute but Navy’s Mohammad Bilal scored in the 40th minute to give his team a point.
At Faisalabad, Nushki’s Baloch FC held PMC Athletico to a 1-1 draw. Naved Mukhtiar hit a fine goal for PMC in the 36th minute before Wali Khan netted the equaliser in the 44th minute.
