Ammad, Hamza, Asad, Mansoor reach pre-quarters

KARACHI: Mohammad Ammad, Hamza Khan, Asadullah Khan, and Mansoor Zaman reached the pre-quarter-finals of their respective age categories in the British Junior Squash Championship in Birmingham on Thursday.

In the under-13 category, Ammad reached the third round by beating Ethan Benstock from the US 11-3, 11-4, 11-4. Hamza also reached the third round by beating Thomas Greengrass from England 11-3, 11-3, 11-5.

Usman Nadeem lost to Yujin Ikida from Japan 5-11, 11-6, 7-11, 12-10, 9-11 in the first round.In the under-15 category, Ashab Irfan lost to Franklyn Smith of England 3-11, 11-6, 9-11, 11-9, 11-9 in the third round.

Asadullah moved into the pre-quarter-finals by beating Leo Fatialofa of New Zealand 11-4, 10-12, 11-7, 11-9 in the third round. Junaid Khan lost to Ahmed Aly from Egypt 1-11, 1-11, 0-11 in the second round. 

In the under-17 category second round, Haris Qasim lost to Tushar Shahani from India 11-9, 12-10, 9-11, 8-11, 8-11; Uzair Shaukat lost to Thomas Rosini from the US 10-12, 5-11, 5-11; Malik Abdul Moiz lost to Jared Carter form England 8-11, 4-11, 6-11; and Naveed Rehman lost to Luis Enrigen from Mexico 11-5, 1-11, 12-14, 13-15.

Farhan Hashmi lost to Duncan Young of Malaysia 7-11, 6-11, 9-11 in the third round in the under-17 category. In the under-19 category, Zeeshan Zeb lost to Patrick Mcelroy from the US 6-11, 12-14, 11-5, 10-12 in the second round.

Ali Sher Khan lost to Jordon Warne from England 4-11, 5-11, 9-11 in the first round. Abdul Malik lost to Tom Walsh of England 11-8, 2-11, 5-11, 4-11 and Uzair Rasheed lost to Shady Elsherbeeny of Egypt 6-11, 5-11, 7-11. However, Mansoor Zaman defeated Vojtech Ryba from Czech Republic 11-9, 11-7, 11-9 to reach the pre-quarter-finals.
