Many shadows

I enjoyed the piece by Ms Kamila Hyat (A nation of many shadows, October 7), especially her analysis of the growth of MNAs' assets. I have two points. First, why do we see that surge during the lawyer's movement? Isn't it intriguing? Were the MNAs expecting the government to fall (which it did) and decided to accumulate as quickly as possible? Secondly, I am sure Ms Hyat will agree that these assets are systematically understated. This is the proverbial tip of the iceberg with three-fourths hidden out of view, including assets held abroad.
