SCCI urges exporters to explore new global markets

SIALKOT: Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) has urged the Sialkot exporters to focus on the diversification of the traditional to non-traditional export items and explore new international trade markets, a statement said.
Addressing a meeting of the Sialkot business community, SCCI newly-elected President Ghulam Mustafa Chaudhry said that there is no doubt that the trendy Sialkot exporters have a great potential to capture the international trade and export markets through exporting their best quality traditional and non-traditional items.
He said that the construction of Sialkot International Airport near Sambrial-Daska is a marvelous achievement of the Sialkot business community as this airport would be helpful in changing the economical fate of this region.
Sialkot International Airport would prove as a milestone towards the stability of the national economy, besides, bringing up the graph of Sialkot exports, he said.
Chaudhry said that the Sialkot Airport would open new vistas of economical development in Pakistan’s first-ever “Golden Export Triangle” comprising Sialkot, Gujrat and Gujranwala districts, besides, booming up the industrial sector in the area, doubling exports from Sialkot city from $1 billion annually, thus, catering to the needs of the entire Gujranwala division.
The SCCI president said that the business community had already contributed Rs200 million on self help basis for the uplift of this export-oriented city under “Sialkot City Development package” for reconstruction, widening of various main roads of the city and other socioeconomic development and public welfare projects.
The businessmen had launched a campaign to raise billions of rupees fund for the beautification of the city, setting a unique example of self help, advising others to replicate it.

Karachi in foreign exchange earning, amounting to $800 million annually, he said.
The Sialkot Dry Port, a project initiated in the private sector, is catering to the needs of the region, comprising Sialkot, Gujranwala and Gujrat, he said.
