Policy for govt sector medical varsities reviewed

Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Qaim Ali Shah, on Thursday presided over a high level meeting at Chief Minister House in connection with admission policy for government sector Medical Universities/Colleges in Sindh for session 2010-11.
The meeting discussed the matters with regard to admission in Dow University of Health Sciences Karachi, Liaquat University of Medical & Health Sciences Jamshoro, Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University Larkana and People’s Medical College Nawabshah and approved the policy for the year 2010-11.
It was decided that the policy for admission in medical universities of last year (2009-10) will be followed this year.
According to details, 45 students of interior Sindh except Karachi will be admitted in Dow Medical University including 30 students of rural and 15 of urban areas. It was decided that 20 students of Karachi will get admission in interior Sindh institutions. i.e, 10 students will be admitted in the Liaquat Medical University and 10 girl students will be admitted in the People’s Medical College of Shaheed Benazirabad.
The Sindh chief minister directed the health secretary to post the required specialist doctors in the Government Hospital Sukkur, immediately.
Shah also directed the authorities concerned to immediately provide five buses to the Liaquat University of Medical & Health Sciences as committed by him earlier.
Regarding enhancement of stipend to postgraduate House Job doctors of Sindh province, the chief minister assured that the stipend will be made at par with the stipend given to house job doctors by the Punjab government. The meeting was attended among others by Vice-Chancellor of different universities.
