Aamir, Farhan in CWG Squash last-16

KARACHI: Top Pakistani squash players Aamir Atlas Khan and Farhan Mehboob have won their respective second round matches to confirm their presence in the last-16 stage of the Commonwealth Games squash event.
Ranked 20th in the world circuit, Aamir Atlas recorded another straight set win over Trinidad and Tobago’s Colin Ramasra. The tenth seeded player won the match by 11-2, 11-4, 11-2 score in 21 minutes to advance into the last 16 of the event.
Aamir will face England favourite Nick Matthew, who confirmed his place in the last 16 after he was severely tested by unseeded Malaysian Mohammad Nafiizwan Adnan.
Aamir’s cousin, Farhan Mehboob seeded thirteenth in the event, defeated compatriot Yasir Butt registering a formidable 11-3, 11-3, 11-1 victory in 20 minutes. Farhan Mehboob will now meet Stewart Boswell after the eighth seed from Australia defeated India’s Harinder Pal Sandhu 11-4, 11-7, 11-5.
Aamir’s younger brother, Danish Atlas Khan however lost his second round match to fourth seeded Englishman Daryl Selby, who won the match by 11-5, 11-4, 11-3 score in 34 minutes.
