PESHAWAR: Lawyers here Saturday boycotted the court proceedings against target killings in Balochistan and the growing incidents of kidnapping in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The Supreme Court Bar Association had given the call for strike. Talking to reporters, PHCBA Secretary General Aminur Rahman Yusufzai said that the government had failed to stop target killings in Balochistan. He said kidnapping incidents continue unabated in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa while the government is playing the role of a silent spectator.
He added that two lawyers, Jamroz Khan and Zain Khalil, were kidnapped while another one Yawar Salim was brutally killed after being abducted from Haripur. Besides, he said kidnapping of businessmen and other citizens had also registered a sharp increase. He added that the PHCBA had formed a nine-member committee led by Syed Muhammad Attique Shah to take up the kidnapping issue with the provincial government.
