KARACHI: The Karachi Port Trust (KPT) handled a cargo volume of 51,313 tons, including 27,031 tons of imports and 24,282 tons of exports during the last 24 hours, a statement said on Friday.
A ship, carrying containers, were allotted berths at the port, while another six vessels, carrying containers of general cargo and tankers, sailed out during the period.
Seven ships are expected to depart and 13 ships, carrying containers of steel, ethanol, base oil, crude oil, palm oil and diesel, are due to arrive at the outer anchorage of the port.
Meanwhile, Port Qasim handled a cargo volume of 108,154 tons, comprising 90,310 tons of imports and 17,844 tons of exports during the last 24 hours, a statement said.
Berth occupancy was measured at 55 percent at the port, where a total of six ships are currently occupying berths to load and offload containers of sugar, palm oil and furnace oil, respectively.
The port witnessed brisk shipping activity, where five ships, carrying containers of palm oil, were allotted berths at the Qasim International Container Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal, respectively.
Another four ships, carrying containers of sugar and phosphoric acid, also arrived at the outer anchorage of the port.
