ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan People’s Party on Sunday described the recent statement of PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif as a U-turn and said all the democratic forces were surprised at it.
“Nawaz Sharif should lend his support to strengthen the democratic system,” said PPP Punjab Information Secretary Dr Fakharuddin Chaudhry while addressing a press conference at the National Press Club here. He said democracy faces threats with the U-turn by Nawaz Sharif. “Mian Nawaz Sharif, who had made an agreement with General (retd) Pervez Musharraf for not taking part in politics till December, has now started net practice to coming into power by taking a U-turn from the earlier statements,” he said.
He said it was better for Nawaz Sharif to contest the by-elections and play his role in parliament. He said when the ARD had started a struggle against the dictatorship, he left the country under an agreement.
