CHAKWAL: Nomination papers’ scrutiny for the by-elections at NA-61 Chakwal-II continued on Saturday and six more nomination papers, including the papers of ex-MNA and independent candidate Sardar Mansoor Hayat Tamman, were accepted by the Election Commission.
The scrutiny will continue till September 27 as 27 candidates have so far filed their nomination papers. A conflict of change in party ticket of the PML-N was still unresolved as five candidates of the PML-N, comprising ex-MPA Surkhro, ex-MNA Sardar Faiz Tamman, ex-candidate Malik Kabir, Advocate, Raja Sana-ul-Haq and Razaq Shad, threatened to bring a unanimous candidate against Sardar Mumtaz Tamman, who was awarded the party ticket after taking it from Malik Kabir, Advocate. Independent candidate Malik Saleem Iqbal, who is backed by the PML-Q and a PPP faction, was also in the run. Sardar Mansoor Hayat Tamman elected for three times as an independent candidate was backed by the PPP Jiala Group. If the PML-N did not resolve the issue, it may face loss. Final list of the candidates will be displayed on October 5 and election symbols will be allotted at the same date. The polling will be held on October 20.
