PEHAWAR: Strict security arrangements were made for Christmas in the provincial capital in the wake of the recent threats.
Heavy contingents of police were deployed at churches in cantonment and city areas where special prayers were offered to celebrate Christmas.
Senior police officers visited a number of churches and inspected the security in and around the worship places of Christians.
Capital City Police Officer Mohammad Tahir Khan and Superintendent of Police Cantt Waseem Riaz cut cake along with the members of the Christian community in Peshawar Saddar to celebrate the occasion. Routine checking at the entry points to Peshawar and other districts of the province was increased due to functions being held in connection with Christmas.
