MUMBAI: Commonwealth Games, which are starting on October 3, have generated a lot of interest in film fraternity as well.
While some feel the Games are a great-opportunity for India to be on global map, the others think we are less prepared.
Actor Ranbir Kapoor who was in Gurgaon to promote his film Anjaana Anjaani feels that the negativity towards Games needs to be stopped.
“There is so much of negativity around Commonwealth games. It should stop and we should be greatful that this opportunity has come to our country. This is a great platform and we should not focus on controversies at this time,” says the actor.
Agrees Ranbir’s co-star in Anjaana Anjaani, Priyanka Chopra who feels that India should act as a perfect host.
“CWG has got a lot of flak, people are saying we are not prepared. But the truth is that now it’s happening. We as a country are Priyankaknown for hospitality. Hamaare liye mehmaan bhagwaan ke samaan hota hai. Let’s show it to them. We should make sure that more and more people come to India for such events.”
Minissha Lamba whose film Well Done Abba has won National Award is a proud citizen. She says, “I feel proud that India is ready to host the games of such international stature. I hope India becomes the venue for more sporting events in future.”
Internationally acclaimed filmmaker Shekhar Kapur however feels disappointed about the lack of preparation. “I just hope that the games do well, but every Indian is disappointed. I’m depressed with the state of affairs. But I still hope in my heart that everything goes well for us. As far as I am concerned, I am not attending the event, as I would be shooting out of the country.”
