It was definitely a proud moment for Pakistanis as Aisam made his way to the finals of both mixed doubles and men’s doubles in the US Open when our cricket team had tarnished the name of our country.
Though he didn’t win any of the matches, the way he spoke about Pakistan after the matches made us all proud. All his achievements are due to his untiring efforts and hard work. We need to support people like Aisam, for whom their country comes first.

It’s a matter of great honour for us that our tennis star Aisam-ul-Haq made history by making it to the finals both in mix doubles and men’s doubles in the US Open. He is the first Pakistani to reach the finals of any Grand Slam contest. Sadly, he lost both the finals, but his message after the match means a lot for us as our image painted across the globe is bad in every sense. It is said that perception is stronger than reality so it’s the perception that counts and we all need to undo that.
The year 2010 has been really special for Aisam as he made it to the quarter finals at the Wimbledon, was awarded Sitara-e-Imtiaz by the government of Pakistan and of course made it to the finals at the US Open. He is truly our new sporting icon and a great ambassador.

It was an awesome performance. The way he talked on the court about Pakistan was incredible. He is a great sportsman and a great human being. The whole nation salutes this young man. We are proud of you, Aisam.
